Cardiology medical practice suite

The Stark law applies to cardiology practices in a variety of ways, including relatively common activities:

  • The delivery of echocardiography, computed tomography (CT) vascular ultrasound and similar diagnostic services that are furnished and billed by a cardiology practice;

  • Cardiology-physician medical director and similar service arrangements with hospitals, and physician referrals to such organizations for inpatient and outpatient hospital services; and

  • Joint-venture arrangements with hospitals and other providers.
